BOG75-F – the hardware for building your own “Beverage on Ground” antenna.
The KIT contain 1:2 matching transformer and 0 – 500 Ohm termination resistor, both – in a waterproof enclosures.
The BOG – is one of the Beverage antenna modifications. Actually it’s just a piece of insulated wire lying on the ground and pointing to the desired direction.
Here are some technical details:
- Matching transformer ratio – 1:2 (50 to 150 Ohm)
Termination resistor value – variable from 0 to 500 ohm, adjustable for the best impedance matching. (250 Ohm typically)
Estimated antenna gain – (-30 dBi)
Recommended wire length – 150-250′.
Feed line type – 75 Ohm coax (RG59, RG-6).
Enclosure type – plastic, UV & water resistant, for outdoor use.
Recommended ground – grounding rods on a both ends of the wire
A few additional details :
- the matching transformer has galvanicaly isolated primary and secondary windings, instead frequently used autotransformers.
- the potentiometer is 500 Ohm Type J Allen Bradley – non inductive. We would recommend to apply some grease to cover the potentiometer shaft while using outdoor . This just to prevent moisture penetration between the pot. shaft and bushing.
- good grounding system is very important . 4′ rods will be enough when a ground has low resistance ( reach soil etc). Use additional grounding radials when use on the poor, high resistance ground, The radials summary length – at least 1/4 WL.
